In accordance with section 7 of the Factories Act, 1948, the occupier of a factory is required to send a written notice containing various details, as prescribed in the said section, to the Chief Inspector, at least 15 days before he begins to occupy or use any premises as a factory.
One of such details which needs to be mentioned in the said notice is - "the name of the manager of the factory for the purposes of the Factories Act".
Hence, the Board can designate any officer/ employee of the company as the "Manager" of any of the factories of the company for the purposes of the Factories Act.
Format of Board Resolution for Appointment of "Manager" under Factories Act 1948:

❝RESOLVED THAT (Name of the Officer), (Designation), be and is hereby appointed as the Manager of the factory of the company situated at ............(address)............, in pursuance with the clause (f) of sub-section (1) of section 7 of the Factories Act, 1948.
RESOLVED FURTHER THAT as a Manager of the said factory, (Name of the Officer), (Designation), be and is hereby entrusted with following powers and authorities:
- to manage the day to day affairs of the factory under the direction of the designated Occupier of the Factory for the time being.
